Opmerkingen: | Fedde de Jong 1915-1977 Fedde de Jong was at age 33 at the State Academy of Fine Arts in Amsterdam. He was a. pupil of Heinrich Campendonk. After his art education he studied in Antwerp and Paris. After this he returned to Amsterdam. From 1965, the breakthrough of the work of Fedde came, he began to sell great work and his work was shown at exhibitions. In 1965 a retrospective exhibition was held in Arti. He also exhibited a lot abroad: in Paris, Antwerp, Spain, America and Canada. Fedde has always drawn a lot around Europe. He especially traveled to Brittany, which he called his second home. He made landscapes, industrial areas and sketches of ports in the form of gouaches. De Jong was a great modern painter. He started as an impressionist painter and developed to a more expressionistic painter over the years. With his landscapes, he went to the edge of abstraction, but he did not release the reality. His work is highly sketchy and suggestive: I do not paint boats, but the essence of the boats, he said. In 1970 he suffered from his leg and needed surgery. In 1977 he was deceased at the age of 62 years. |
